Soca artiste Lashley Winter, known as Motto, is now an official brand ambassador for the island of Saint Lucia.

Saint Lucia’s Prime Minister Allen Chastanet named Motto among the list of brand ambassadors for the island.

It is important for us to continue to recognise outstanding Saint Lucians and make it possible for them to access opportunities for the growth and development of themselves and by extension our island. I congratulate the Saint Lucians who have been named Goodwill & Brand Ambassadors for our country,” he said in a recent Instagram post.

Since bursting onto the music scene in the mi- 2000s, Motto has been at the forefront of establishing Saint Lucia’s musical talent and sound across the Caribbean.

Thanks to his production skills and foresight, he has stamped the island’s unique Dennery Segment sound outside of Saint Lucia, collaborating with soca’s heavy hitters such as Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin, Fay Ann Lyons, Destra Garcia, Shal Marshall and many others.

Motto has also been instrumental in exposing Trinidad and Tobago to the sounds of the Eastern Caribbean, namely Zouk and Bouyon music through a multitude of riddims.

As a singer and writer, he has injected Saint Lucian energy and vibes into the soca scene with songs such as 2018’s ‘Party Lit’ and 2019’s ‘One Woman’ and ‘Pick Yuh Position’.

For 2020, Motto has sealed his reputation as a hitmaker, producing multiple riddims such as the Baila Riddim featuring Kes the band’s ‘Boss Lady’, the Toating Riddim featuring his song ‘Toat No Feelings’, and ‘Man with Ride’ on the Fuego Riddim with Saint Lucian artiste Ezra.
